That's a really cool feature, but I've never seen anything that fluid in Storyline. Here is a screencast by David Anderson: https://player.vimeo.com/video/149069839 that uses magnified screenshots to highlight areas on a screen. Hope it helps!
I have looked at the video above and although this method would work ok for my project, a magnifying glass effect like the original post suggestswould be better. Is there a relatively easy way to create this effect?
I see this post is older than 2 years. I too have the same query. The zoom tool in 360 is still the same and cannot be applied on a layer, only to a slide. I'm trying to make a map interactive, but will need the use of a magnifying glass effect so that the user can magnify areas at his own discretion.
Hi Lisa! This would be an excellent feature request, since there are quite a few users who have needed the zoom tool on a layer. The beauty of Articulate 360 is that we're able to roll out updates pretty frequently, so would you be able to add in a Feature Request on the ability to zoom on a layer?
Thanks, I've submitted the request. As I am building modules for art history it sometimes require the exploration of the artwork in an isolated instance.
A magnifying glass feature is a super great suggestion. That sounds a bit different from the feature request Lisa submitted, which was the ability to apply a zoom region to a layer.
Just looking at this feed (I know it's a bit old). So, I use the zoom image feature on images I want to enlarge with a magnifying glass, but what about a graph I have imported from PowerPoint that is editable in Storyline? I'd like to be able to put a magnifying glass on that, but the option is not available as it's not an image. The zoom area effect just creates an automatic zoom on the area when the slide starts. Is there an option I'm missing to Zoom area in the same way you zoom image?
Right-click the table in Storyline, and select 'Save as Picture'. This will save the graph as a PNG image file. Then, insert the picture on your Storyline slide, and apply the zoom image feature.

Create your own zoom manually by adding a layer to the slide, then copy/paste the graph from the base to the slide layer. Increase the size of the graph on the slide layer so it appears 'zoomed'. Finally, add a button on the base to open the slide layer when the user clicks it.
Thanks Alyssa. Yes, I did option 2, which doesn’t take very long, but it would be a cool feature to be able to quickly apply the zoom (and set a magnification percentage). I’m quite experienced with Storyline, just looking for shortcuts!
This feature hasn't bubbled up to the top of our roadmap, but we're still listening to the feedback! Here's a bit more about how we work to prioritize feature requests.
I would like to use a magnifying glass effect on my projects as well. I am responsible for developing training for health research. Lots of detailed work and this would be a great feature. I recall building a dragable magnifying lense in Flash some years ago.
I was just looking for this feature as well. Hope it gets on the radar! It would really help gamify training for inspection and looking for defects in objects. As well as providing an option for the vision impared.
Hi, I also would like to see this effect in Storyline 360. I created a magnifying glass effect in Flash 4 or 5 years ago that was very effective in displaying detail on schematics, charts etc. This should not be that difficult a feature to add to Storyline.
Also interested in creating this effect. It would be useful for when students need to examine charts or graphs or detailed tables as part of an activity.
Agreed this feature is needed and should be a standard feature within Storyline 360! I could definitely use it when emphasizing parts of video tutorials etc.

Thanks for submitting the request, Lisa!
The magnifying glass would be great for us too.
We use "what's wrong with this picture" activities and this would help students get a close up look at items they are not sure about.
Hey Kevin!

Would you mind explaining more about what you'd like to see to our product development team?
We also could use the magnifying glass as we are looking to have user control the magnified area on a page during a search.
Thanks for adding your voice, Paul! It helps to know how in-demand this feature is.

Hi Julian!
I have a couple of ideas for you...

Hi Alyssa, has this feature been added yet? I see their request was submitted two years ago..

Hey Roy and welcome to E-Learning Heroes :)
I'd love for you to share your idea and how you would use this feature with our team here.
In the meantime, there are screen magnification tools for any accessibility needs, such as ZoomText and MAGic.
Also interested in the magnifying glass effect.
