Matching Drop-down - Match Order

Jun 27, 2013

This is a pretty simple issue, but one I cannot seem to solve.  I've got four entries in a Matching Drop-down style question, each one with a corresponding answer of either level 1, level 2, level 3, or level 4.  The entries are ordered by me, but I would also like the drop-down menu choices to mimic this order.

For example, when the learner clicks on and expands the menu, it should read, from top to bottom, level 1, level 2, level 3, level 4.  As it is the drop-down menu choices seem to be in a semi-random order with no way of changing them.

Any input is greatly appreciated.  Thank you!

Hi there Blake!

The answers in the Matching Drop-Down interaction are automatically shuffled by default. Unfortunately, there really isn't a way to change that option at this time. I can understand the reasoning behind the design, but I can also understand why you'd want to provide them in a specific order.

If you'd like to see more options for this type of question, please consider sharing your request with our development team.

In the meantime, you could always try creating a freeform quiz and simulating drop-down menus, or even using a different type of question that doesn't require shuffling.

Thanks and good luck with the project Blake!

Hello Pankaj!  Even on these older posts, we're alive and well.  :)

Matching Drop-Down answers still automatically shuffle.  Could you try a freeform question type where you build a similar looking interaction?

Freeform question types help you break out of the box of the quiz questions to get your interaction to look and feel exactly how you prefer.
