Media wont replay from start after it completes

i have a video on the main slide with a toggling play and pause button, it plays with a trigger. once the media completes I made sure the pause button is changed to its hidden state so that the video is ready to be played again. When I play the video again, it doesn't play from the start(sometimes halfway through). The video also sometimes finishes even before the media completes.  The slide is set to reset to initial state when revisited.
