Meet the Team - Need to Change last Next Button To Done

Apr 02, 2021

In the attached Storyline file, I want the Next button in the last slide to say Done instead of Next and then end the lesson. In the player, if I change the text in Next - it changes it for each slide. How can I add a Done button on the last slide and hide the next button so the lesson closes?

Hi Karla,

This thread might help: https://community.articulate.com/discussions/articulate-storyline/change-player-button-label-only-on-specific-slides-in-sl360

You could change the Submit button to Done if you don't have a quiz in the course. But if you do, then that won't work either. As the buttons are universal throughout the course, you might have to make a custom button and put it at the bottom right of the player, as noted in the thread link above.

Dwayne - the link that the writer references with the answer I need goes to an Under Construction page. See below.

The Next button is a universal button that displays throughout the course. You are unable to change its text on specific slides. That being said, if you haven't used the Submit Button anywhere, I have repurposed/relabled it to meet this kind of need.

Hi, Karla.

I wasn't able to open the link above either, but I believe what Dwayne (and Tracy in the linked discussion) was suggesting is this:

  • Right-click on the base layer of your last slide, and go to Properties. Uncheck the Next button, and check Submit.
  • Adjust the newly-created submit trigger to what you want to happen (for example, exit course when the user clicks submit)
  • In your player properties, click on Text Labels, find the submit button, then change the custom text to what you want it to say.

  • The button should now say Done.

Let me know if this works!
