Menu Button Navigation

Aug 22, 2018

Hello,

In my storyline module, I have created a menu where users can select one of two options in no particular order. After each (and both) options have been completed, they are returned to this menu.

The issue I am having is after one of the options has been completed, the user is able to select the 'next' button, which prompts them to the next slide without completing the second option.

Is there a way that I can hide the 'next' button until both options have been completed, while still keeping the format of my menu?

Thanks,

Jeremy

Hi Jeremy,

I've done similar things with menus where we locked the test until all chapters were visited. (I'm not a fan of locking navigation, but that's another story 🙂).

Here's how I'd do it:

  1. Create Boolean variables to track completion status for each chapter
  2. Use triggers to change the state of the next button to hidden when the slide starts and to change it to normal if both variables from step 1 are true

If you're not using the built-in Next button, you can save yourself a trigger by setting the default state to hidden.

Cheers,

Simon
