Menu drops behind content in Chrome browser

Feb 13, 2019

and some of the items on master pages are placed in front of content.

Sounds like a nightmare, but it is in fact what happens when I'm running our courses in Google Chrome (Version 72.0.3626.96 (Officiel version) (64-bit).

Has anyone noticed these new undesired features and/or found a way to fix them?

Hi Mette and Crytal. Our team just noticed the same issue yesterday with the menu sitting behind the base slide and other items appearing to disappear. The key thing we have noticed is that everything works well when the window is smaller, but when the browser window is larger, objects disappear/rearrange. Many of the hidden objects are required for navigation so we are pretty concerned.

Hi Vanessa,

Sorry for the trouble and added concern, but this is fixed up today!

Storyline 360, build 3.25.18009.0 is available today, and it fixes the issue you'd described where some objects disappeared when viewing courses in Google Chrome 72.

You will need to download and install the latest updates to republish your project and take advantage of the fix.

Also, when run fullscreen in Chrome the courses lag like you would not believe.

Hey Jake, have you tried enabling hardware acceleration under the advanced settings in Chrome? I noticed it smooths out a lot of the animations. I know it may be a lot to ask for your users but may help some that have trouble with the lag.

I'm having the same menu issue (SL3). It has caused me to have to republish several courses with the menu, resources, etc. on the side instead of the top.

If I "Lock player at optimal size" in the Browser Settings, the menu, resources, etc. appear as they should. But "Scale player to fit browser window" causes the menu to be hidden behind the slides.

When will the patch be available for SL3?

Hi again everyone,

I'm happy to share that an update to Storyline 3 is available today.

Enhanced: We added support for Google Chrome 72 and Safari 12.0.3. If objects disappear when viewing a course in these browsers, install the latest Storyline 3 update and republish your course.

Check out all the details on the latest release here.

Please let us know if you run into any issue after updating and republishing.
