I want the player menu to appear in the top left instead of the sidebar. I followed steps to move it there but even though the small preview in the Player Properties dialog shows it in the top left, when I Preview the slide itself the menu label doesn't appear and the space it should occupy is just a thin border.

check the slide property of the slide to see if the menu box is ticked.
