Modern Player Defaults Storyline 360

I have a few videos in my course and I would like to show the script only on those slides containing the videos. However, the default player is set to just show the Menu on the top right hand side.
On the slides with the videos, I have checked "Notes" using Custom for Selected Slides. That works fine until I move on to the following slides - these still show the Notes panel (blank) even though I have reverted to Player Defaults.
If I preview the individual slides they are all showing as correct, however, once I publish I get the scenario above.
I have downloaded the latest Storyline 360 and working on my desktop. Any idea what I'm doing wrong. Thanks in advance. I attached some images for reference.

You have the menu on the top bar. The notes have to have a place to appear. When the notes appear it creates the placeholder space and preserves that.
Otherwise you'd get the sliding in and out.
Thanks Tom, that works. I'll have to figure out some other way learners can access the menu.
