Motion Path Forced Order?

I created a next button shaped like a whale tail that I want to exit the screen in a downward motion when it is clicked on before it advances to the next slide. I created a motion path and put that above the trigger used to jump to the next slide. The tail completes the motion path when I preview the single slide. However, when I preview the entire course, the slide advances before the motion path occurs. Is there a different way to accomplish this so that when the user clicks the button it exits the screen and then advances to the next slide?
