Mouse cursor in a black square automatically

Apr 07, 2023

Hello, while designing tutorials for our products, I see for the first time in my long days of using Storyline the mouse cursor appearing with a black square.
It was in the mouse format !

Of course, you can change it by selecting the scene, and then changing the mouse format; but is there a method to set it up for a project?

Quite a scare, especially since it was not possible for me to get an export in demo, simulation, evaluation of screen recordings...

A security issue, which is reassuring :-) [discussed with Articulate support and TSplus, the software publisher of Remote Support for which I am building the tutorials]

For those who may encounter the problem, they installed a VM for me and everything works.

Happy Easter weekend / holidays!

Hello C Dumont,

Thanks for reaching out!

Seeing a black square instead of a cursor definitely sounds like unusual behavior. Please try doing a repair of your Storyline 360 installation to see if this helps address the issue.  It also sounds like you're running Storyline 360 on a virtual machine. Make sure that the VM meets the system requirements needed to run Storyline 360. If you're working on a Mac, you can check out this article on how to properly configure virtual environments to run Articulate 360.

If the issue persists, open a case with our support team here so we can take a closer look at what's happening!

Hi Tom,

Sorry to hear that you ran into a similar issue. Can I ask if you are working out of a virtual environment similar to C Dumont? And have you tried repairing your Storyline 360 installation as well?

If repairing doesn't work, please open a case with our support team. They'll be glad to help check why you're seeing a black square instead of a cursor.
