Mouse over for a particular word is not working

Jun 22, 2017

Hello,

Before i raised the same issue two times about the mouse over of particular word is not working in storyline 360.

First time reply: We are in progress to fix the issue, suggestion is use 'Hotspot'

Second time: Hotspot not working in scrolling panel, suggestion is use 'buttons or shapes with transperency'

Now third time same issue, buttons, shapes, hotspots etc. nothing is working fine in scrolling panel.

Please check the attached storyline file and reply on this. We are facing this issue from client.

Regards

Chandrasekhar M.

Hi Chandra,

I'm sorry that you’re still struggling with the hotspots and scrolling since you reached out here and in this other discussion. I’d love to help.

I took a look at your file and noticed that the button and the shape you included both were set to no fill and no outline. That is not the same as transparent. You'll need to set the fill color and border to something like white, and then adjust the transparency to be mostly transparent. I do 99% typically.

I made that change to your course and published it for web. I uploaded it here to Tempshare. That one worked for me to see the hover element each time.

The layer won't change it's position based on where the user is in the scroll though - so that will be something you'd want to account for.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

Hi Chandra,

Thanks for coming back to this discussion, I see it work the first time after I scroll and if I reset the scrolling back to the beginning.

I will report it to our team as a possible software bug, and in the meantime I did find that it worked as expected if I used a button as a click vs. a mouse over. You could also look at including the additional layer information in a "hover" state for your button.

I updated the last slides in your example to use those as an option.

Hi Chandra!

Thank you so much for troubleshooting this bug with us! We appreciate you taking the time to share your files and explain what you're seeing on your end.

As promised, we are reporting back to share this software bug has been fixed in the newest update, Update 36 (Build 3.36.21213.0), for Storyline 360! Hovering over a shape while the layer is showing will automatically update with the scrolling panel.

To install the newest version of Storyline 360, you'll need to update the Articulate 360 Desktop App.
