Move /Data directory

Jul 18, 2012

I'm very new to Articulate.  A presentation was built for us and one of our clients needs to have the /data directory located somewhere different on their network. They won't allow the size of the directory on the network (not sure why).  They're using sharepoint, so they say they can't use symbolic links (I was thinking they could set up a link to point to the /data directory).

So, my question is there someway to change the html or xml files to look at the /data directory if it is moved? I've tried to do some changing but I'm not having any luck getting it to work.  It seems like the directory structure is hardcoded?

thanks, brian

I have a similar question, but dealing with the initial project creation in Storyline...

I'm also fairly new to Articulate and am using the Storyline trial (soon to be purchasing)... I have a question about directory file structure; specifically inserting interactive .swf files (an interactive multimeter) which was created by one of our coders.  Where should I store those files (media, xml, swf) so that they will publish out?  He creates flash content on his hard drive, saves it to a shared drive from where I can 'grab' it and insert via the Insert menu/Insert Flash.  Where should I those files be stored?

I found this thread/post http://community.articulate.com/forums/p/8406/49398.aspx#49398  is it still relavant to Storyline?  Could anyone provide a bit more specifics for my situation?

Thank you SO much for your help,

Michael Grady

Thanks Peter for the message/tips on file/directory structure, and also inserting flash files!

Here's Peter's suggestions...

The general rule is: always work from your local drive. If you can "grab" the .swf file from the network drive and move it to your local drive, I'd highly recommend it. This article has more good advice:

And a swf file can be inserted into Storyline either as a video or as a Flash object. Here's how to decide which option to use:

Also, please keep in mind that swf files are not supported in the HTML5 or Articulate Mobile Player outputs for Storyline.
