MP4 Streaming and Synchronization

Oct 29, 2013

Hi all,

I'm running into an issue with one of the courses I developed.

One of the slides in the course has an MP4 video as well as text on the screen. We synchronized the text with the video so certain text boxes will appear at a specific second in the video. Everything works well when previewing and playing the video locally

However when we publish the course to our LMS, the slide appears but the MP4 takes few seconds to start (as storyline is streaming the first few seconds of the video). The synchronization with the text is lost. It seems that MP4 loading is independent of the slide loading.

It plays well after the MP4 is fully loaded and we restart the slide

Is there anyway to fix this issue? Can we make sure the MP4 is loaded before the slide actually plays? Or sync the slide loading with the MP4?

Any guidance will be appreciated.

Thanks

zola

Hi Kathleen,

In some cases, you may have an MP4 file that is not properly formatted.  As a result, users may experience a long delay while the entire video downloads.  If you have an MP4 file that is exhibiting this behavior, you may be able to correct it by using the method described here. As a default Storyline progressively streams MP4 files.

Also, here is a reminder about how Storyline loads all of your content.
