Multi-Select Quiz Slides
Oct 30, 2014
Hello,
Once a users makes a selection, before they submit their answers, is it possible to all them to deselect answers by clicking a selected item again?
Also, for this question 2 answers must be selected to register a "correct." However, I noticed when I selected the 2 right choices plus additional choices, I still got a "correct." Can this be changed? I only want the user to get a "correct" if they select only the 2 right choices (no more).
Thanks!
Alex

Hi Alex! Would you be able to share your .story file so that we can have a look?
Hello Alex,
For you first question, I am not sure if I have this straight. Do you want there to be an object they click on that de-selects the answer choices?
For the second question, are you working with a multiple Response question? This should not give a correct answer unless only the correct options are selected.
You could share your file here if you would like us to take a look at the set up.
I would prefer not to - I don't think my employer would allow that. Would a screenshot of this slide help? See attached.
Hi Alex!
We have an issue that has been reported to our QA Team related to the items being 'grouped'. Could you try to save your grouped items as pictures and utilize that way? This should allow you to workaround the reported issue.
Hello Alex!
You could just share the troublesome slide here by copying it into a new file, and remove any employer specific information, or you can submit it privately here.
Hi Emily,
When the user makes their selections by clicking the images on screen, I have them triggered them to change their state to "selected" - that way the user knows what choices they are submitting, because the chosen images are illuminated. However, if the user wants to change their answer by clicking on again a selected image, before submitting, can they do that? Can I trigger the image to return it's state to "normal" when they click it again?
I'm using the Freeform "Pick Many" slide, because I needed to have the results tied to images.
Thanks for your help.
OK...here is the trouble slide
Hello Alex,
If you are using the built in "selected" state, you should not need to add a trigger to change the state to selected. The program will automatically change it. Then when the users clicks on it again, it should change back to normal, as it is no longer selected.
Hm, interesting idea...how do you do that?
Also, which issue is this intended to fix? The multi-choice answer issue, or the deselect issue?
Thanks for your help!
OOOOOO....ok, I got it.
I misunderstood the "States" thing - thought I had to add triggers, but no.
Thank you both!!!
Hello Alex!
The issue Leslie referred to is when you group objects together, like an image and a text box, the built in states cannot be added. You can group them and save as images and re insert them, or you can just ungroup them and use the selected state on on or the other (image or text) as a workaround. Attached is a file with the built in selected state being used on the images.
I was unfortunately unable to reproduce the error about getting a correct response when extra items were selected. i was only able to get a correct response when the 2 correct items were selected.
Yeah, I get that, and I see what you mean about the automatic states. I would like to know how to save a group as an image though - I think that would help me for the future, if you don't mind explaining.
I think error was actually related to the fact that since I had used the trigger to change the state, the object only looked selected even after I re-clicked it. But it was not processed as selected.
Thanks again,
Alex

Hello Alex!
You should be able to group the selected items, then right click on the border of the grouped image, and "save as picture"
Then you can insert picture, and add states to this.
Cool! Thanks!
