Multilevel feedbacks

Hi! What is the easiest way to make multiple levels of feedback?
For instance, when learner gets it wrong the first time, feedback 1 pops up. When he gets it wrong the 2nd time, feedback 2 pops up, etc.?
I know both "Try Again" and "Incorrect" feedback can be customized, but I am working on a "try it" screen recording with infinite attempts, and there has to be a first general hint if they miss the 1st time, and a second more specific hint when they miss the 2nd time.
Anyone has found an easy way to do that and apply to multiple questions?

You should use a number variable:
1) when you click submit button, you change variable by adding 1 to it;
2) when variable is 1, show popup1, when variable is 2, show popup2 etc.
