Multiple Chapters with Quizes

May 12, 2014

I am trying to figure out a way to manage the quizzes within our course ware to properly manage competency.

Here is my scenario:

I have a course that has 7 different chapters.  Each chapter has 10 slides or so.  At the end of each chapter I want to have a quiz and tally page that will not allow the learner to progress to the next chapter without successfully passing the quiz for the current chapter.  After a quiz is taken I want the results to be tallied and reported within our LMS so that the learners scores are tracked for each quiz taken during a course.

Is this possible?  If so how can it be achieved?

Hi Steve and welcome to Heroes!

By default, Storyline only allows you to track by number of slides viewed or a results slide (which could combine multiple results slides - but will report an overall score). If you're looking to track multiple individual scores, you may want to review some of the methods mentioned in this article.

If you're looking to restrict the user from going to the next slide or next quiz, you may want to remove the player next/prev buttons for the quiz results slide, and then place a continue button on the "pass" layer of the results slide and a "retry" button on the failure layer. This set up would help keep the user within that particular quiz until they've passed.

Hope that helps get you started!
