Multiple Correct & Incorrect Answers for Pick Many Quiz

Oct 31, 2021

Hello All,

I'm trying to create a Pick Many Quiz with multiple correct and incorrect answers with variable weights.

For example:

Quiz Question 1 (question 1)

Quiz Question 1 Description (How tall is the building?)

Multiple choice Answer 1 ( Very Tall)
Multiple choice Answer 2 ( somewhat Tall)
Multiple choice Answer 3 ( 19 feet Tall)
Multiple choice Answer 4 ( 10 feet Tall)
Multiple choice Answer 5 ( 6 feet Tall)

Instead of just designating right and wrong answers, we need answers to have variable point weights. Ie. multiple choice answer 1 awards 3 points, multiple choice answer 3 results 1 point and multiple choice answer 5 results in -2 points, etc.

Is this something that can be done with articulate?

Thanks!

Hello Phil, and welcome to E-Learning Heroes. 😊

Thanks for reaching out and sharing what you would like to create.

We have a few graded questions that allow grading by choice, but this option is limited to one correct answer.

  • By Choice: This option lets you assign a different score to each answer choice. It's only available for Multiple Choice, Word Bank, Freeform Pick One, and Freeform Hotspot questions.

A Pick Many question type is the free-form version of a multiple response graded question, which requires the learner to select all the correct choices.

It sounds like you are looking for a custom weighted question solution. You should be able to design this with variables and triggers, and I'll leave that to the community to chime in and help. In the meantime, this conversation may help you get started.

From what I have read regarding this type of quiz question, it seems to be a common need in the Articulate community that has been a need for a number of years.  The "conversation" above is over 9 years old.  Any plans in the near future to add this type of quiz question to the Built in Graded Questions?

Hello Emma, and welcome to E-Learning Heroes. 😊

Thank you for sharing what you would like to see in Storyline. We have a feature request specific to partial credit/scoring for multiple response graded questions, and I've added this conversation to our report.

This feature is not currently being worked on, but I wanted to share some information about how we manage these feature requests, which may be helpful. You can see some of the items on our roadmap here:
