Multiple instances of a video in Storyline, how to keep file size down

Oct 23, 2017

Hi everyone, I am a newbie with Storyline, working on my first real project. I was wondering if any of you might have an idea or solution for something I'm running into. Say I have a video clip that I've compressed to a small size for inclusion in my Storyline file, but I want to include it in multiple places in the timeline. Instead of the video counting toward the final file size once, because it is the same video, instead it counts for every time it appears in the file, inflating the final file size.

Is there any way around this, more or less call to it in a library or something like that, as opposed to loading it as a single file every time?

Hey Emily,

Welcome to the community, and congrats on starting your first Storyline project! You came to the right place.

It sounds like you have a video that you need to show multiple times throughout your course, is that correct? Without seeing your design or the flow of your course, my first thought is to insert the video on one slide, then lightbox that slide anytime you need to show the video.

I hope that sparks some ideas--let me know if you have any questions!
