Multiple learning paths - how to branch?

Jul 18, 2023

Hello all. I have a very large course where the learner is able to take multiple paths.

The majority will take the course from the beginning in a linear fashion - easy peasy.

Other learners are able to select a section or sections and then exit the course. If the learner only selects a certain section, I would like a slide to appear with instructions telling them to return to the agenda slide if they need to take more sections or exit the course.

I guess my question is, what is the easiest way to do this? I'm getting a bit confused with the branching because they could potentially select section 2, return to agenda, then select section 5 and exit the course. Others may only select 1 section and exit. Hope this makes sense and any help is much appreciated! This course is huge so I'm trying to make this as smooth as possible. Thanks

You might try making each section a separate scene, launched from a main menu slide in the first scene.

You might also consider using a lightbox for the main menu slide, especially if it's only there as a launching point (click here and go to Scene/Section X).

I would definitely recommend that you sketch this storyboard out on a whiteboard or blank paper for yourself so you know how the segments all work and fit together.
