Multiple slide layers displayed in different slides in different scenes

Mar 24, 2016

Hi everyone,

I decided to write you this lines because I have no ideas in this moment.

In my new project (organizational hierarchy) I have scene 1 with a slide with 100 buttons with triggers so another slides in different scenes and description of each employee in 100 slide layers (hotspot to show layer and button to jump to another slide). By clicking on a employee button it jumps to another slide with only that employee (picture-contacts-job description) with his role position and connections with other employees (with buttons for each employee).

Now here is the challenge:

How can I create lots of slide layers to be displayed on different slides in different scenes?

Example

scene 1 - organizational hierarchy

slide 1.1. - all employees

scene 2 - dept accountancy

slide 2.1. - bob

scene 3 - dept legal

slide 3.1. - jeff

slide 3.2. - etc...

scene 4 - sales force

slide 4.1. - john

slide 4.2. - etc...

each scene has a slide for each emplyee

each employee has connections with other employees in his activity

bob interact in his job with jeff and john

so in this slide 2.1. - bob has slide layers for jeff and john

in slide 3.1. - jeff has slide layers with bob and john

in slide 4.1. - john has slide layers with bob and jeff

Question?

How can I create a pool of slide layers to be displayed in different slides in different scenes?

Because it takes a lot of time to copy and paste them, and more than that, when comes to change something in a job description it starts the party :) because I need to edit all slides layers from all slides in all scenes and it's very complicated...

Any ideas?

Best regards,

Ionut

Hello!

Seems to be a complex project you've got!

I would solve it by using "Feedback master", open view / feedback master and "Insert slidemaster". In the new feedback master delete all but the "blank" slide. Duplicate the blank slide and add the content you´d like to be shared on many slides. On the actual slide you want the content, add a new layer and change the layout to the feedback master you just created.

If you want the shared content to be on the base layer instead use "Slide Master".

Hope this helps!

Hi, Ionut -- Thanks for your question, and I agree with Jonas; it may be easier for others in the community to assist with a complex set up if you are able to share your file. All you'd need to do is click on the grey ADD ATTACHMENT button in the bottom left of the reply box and upload from there.

Of, if the suggestion Jonas has already shared will do the trick for you, please be sure to let us know if you are all set, as well. :)

Hi everyone!

Thanks all for sharing tips. Feedback master or slide master it is not good for this example! Because it jums to a specific slide and returns to a specific slide.

Lightbox it works perfect for this case, because it lightbox a specific slide and returns to current slide! But here is an disadvantage: 1. the size is not the same (so doesn't look good) - please update storyline application to resize the slide lightbox or to have the same size like slide and the close button to be in custom position upper right or upper left, etc...  2. another setting to be added to lightbox - transparency (custom up to 100%).

I'll think more what I will choose for my project: lightbox or copy paste the slide layer to each slide. (I prefer the copy paste because it looks good, but I have 540 jobs with an average of 5 interractions with other jobs, so is very difficult to update each time something changes...)

Best regards!

Christie, Lightbox doesn't look good - please update storyline application to resize the slide lightbox or to have the same size like slide and the close button to be in custom position upper right or upper left, etc... 2. another setting to be added to lightbox - transparency (custom up to 100%).

Thnak you!
