My project is not setting itself to complete. Help?

Jun 14, 2013

My project is not setting itself to complete...and it needs to in order to be added to an LMS.  I have tried to add an exit button but that does not seem to do anything.  Any help?  Don't know if this matters but I'm on a free trial.

Hi Helen!

Have you tested your course in SCORM Cloud? This would help us determine if the issue is Articulate related or if it's on your LMS's side.

If you're using AICC content please take a look at the article below for testing information:

Articulate Support - Testing AICC content at SCORM Cloud

If it appears in SCORM Cloud as well, we'd be happy to take a closer look at what might be going on.

If you can't replicate the issue in SCORM Cloud, it's probably an issue that you'd want to take to your LMS team.

The articles here and here may also help clear up common LMS issues.

Let us know how it turns out.

Thanks!

Hi Christine,

Thanks for your suggestions.  I read the articles.

I tested it in SCORM cloud and it passed but not on the LMS.  (I am an individual working to get my project on a website ...so it's their LMS)

Hey Helen,

Yes, it looks like it is still not setting itself complete. Also, one other thing, you may want to actually put an exit button and not an exit action on the course. On the last slide, it closed itself, which could cause issues in LMS's that feel the course is closing too quickly...

First thing would be to figure out why the course isn't setting itself complete...do you have anything in there that triggers completion? Once again, I do not know a ton about storyline...do you have access to support with them?

The people on the LMS side said this:

We think the reason the course isn't validating is becausethere is no completion message that goes to the LMS- can you remind me whichauthoring tool you used to create this course? There needs to be some sort ofmessage from the course to the LMS that the course has completed.

I tired adding an exit button but that didn't seem to help. I have confirmed that I am publishing the way the tutorials show.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Helen

Hi Helen - Is there a quiz that flags completion or they have to complete x # of screens?  When I first started using Storyline, I was having problems with complete setting properly and found I was not setting that section properly just before I published. I also publish everything to SCORM 1.2 as I have having some issues with SCORM 2004 and now it works everytime.

If you want me to try to publish to my LMS, let me know. I could do it this weekend and let you know if it worked. If it does, you'll knnow it's your LMS for sure. Just private message me.

Hi Helen,

Just curious - are you using an "Exit" tab, or button when testing this? If it's only failing on the LMS, it might be difficult for us to find the issue, but we'd still be happy to take a look at what's happening, if you'd like.

You'll be able to attach the .STORY file on the second page of the following form:

Articulate Support - Submit a Support Case

Please be sure to include a description of your issue. Please also include the URL for this thread in the form. Also, please share the case number with me. You're welcome to do so here, or in a private message. This way I can follow the progress of the case and update this thread.

Thanks Helen!
