Navigation Controls from Quiz result page in Storyline

May 20, 2014

Hi,

I am creating an eLearning course from articulate storyline. I have only one scene in this project. However, I have around 30 slides inside this scene.

After these 30 slides I have a final quiz. In case learner not scoring 80% score in this program want to show a message, as well the learner if learner gets 80% or above I have another message.

If learner gets less than 80%, the message page asks them to go back and do the quiz again and they will not be able to go to next slide. If learner gets 80% score or above. They have to read the message and goes to next page.

I tried with slide master layers and variables. It always shows only one layer. I am not sure how to manage this issue.  Please help me to integrate this function.

Hi Mohan,

When you set up a graded results slide from Storyline you'll see that there are two layers automatically created for a Success layer and a Failure layer - which will be shown based on what you have set as the pass point on your Results set up. Once you have those two layers you can choose to include a "retry" quiz button on the failure layer only. Also, if the next button is a part of the player you can set up some conditions so that the user can't click on the next button - if you're using a custom button you could remove it from the Failure layer or hide it.

Hi Ashley,

Thanks for your answer. As you mentioned, I have integrateda course previously. I placed a message on pass and fail result layers tomanage this and same as you mentioned, controlled next button navigation fromthis slide.

Now in the new course, the issue is little different.  I have a huge text paragraphon both (Pass and Fail) layers. Due to this, I decided to introduce two new layers after result page.

When learner complete Quiz and click on submit button, systemshows pass/fail results based on the score. When user clicks next button fromthis result page, I would like to show this layers based on their score.

I tried this as mentioned below:

When user clicks next button from result page, system triggersto next slide and here I am using another slide master. In this slide master Ikept these two messages in different layers with a Go back button.  (If user fails they have to click on go backbutton to reach a specific page. If pass go back button will not be there, onlymessage). So that based on the quiz results, these slide master layers need to bedisplayed.

One more thing, when userclicks Go back button, this slide master status need to be refreshed, because the user reach again to quiz and they have to complete the quiz again. based on the second attempt result slide master layers need to behave as mentioned earlier.  I am notsure whether I have to  create a thirdlayer as blank or not.

Hope, you got an idea of the navigation structure.

Hi Mohan,

For all of the feedback of your quiz you have to put them in different layers on the result slide of your quiz.

HI Kartik,

Thanks for your answer. You are right, we have to work on layers. I tried, but I couldn't integrate it. I have mentioned the complete process in this loop. please have a look at it and let me know how to implement it.
