New slides do not have same appearance as existing slides

Oct 07, 2013

Hi, I am a new Storyline user and am having a problem figuring out how to get all slides in my presentation to have the same apperance. When I insert quiz slides into my presentation I can't  figure out how to make the theme match the existing slides. I tried to import the IPADMENU.story from E Learning Heroes, but can't seem to import it as a slide master or template or background (probably using the wrong terminology.)

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Catharine,

Have you tried to import this template into a new Storyline file and then add your content from there? This tutorial walks you through how to add a new template into Storyline. Also, if you have a particular layout set up within your master slides (say for your quizzes) and you'd like to apply it to a particulate slide you'll want to right click on that slide within the Story View or on the left hand side in Slide view, and then choose the Layout you'd like to apply. Also, here is a tutorial on working with themes since it's a bit different than just the slide master or a template.

Hi Catharine,

Thanks for sharing the example, I'm much more of a visual person.

Slide layers are meant to be items that would lay over your base slide upon a particular trigger. Think of it more like a transparency sheet that you could place over another image to change it slightly. You won't be able to use these within the layer to achieve you're desired look.

Instead, if you opened up the slide master, you could add this to the Question slide as image, lay them out as you'd like, format the text boxes there and then when you go to insert a new quiz question it will lay on top of these images. Here is a tutorial on working with slide masters.
