Next button doesn't stay visible after visiting another slide

Apr 16, 2019

I have the Next button hidden on the slide until the timeline ends (this is a trigger in the Master slide). When the learner watches the slide (mother) and the timeline ends, the Next button appears. There are buttons that launches another slide (daughter) as though it's a popup. Clicking an X on the popup closes it and returns the learner to the mother. The client doesn't want the animation to replay on the mother slide so I have it set to Resume to Save state but upon return the Next button is no longer visible. Does any one have a suggestion for overcoming this.

Hi Robert,

Thanks for the description of what you would like to happen in your project.

Without seeing your file, I understand you to describe:

  • Mother Slide has:
    • trigger for Next button to be hidden when the timeline starts
    • trigger for Next button to return to Normal state when timeline ends

So, when returning to the slide, even if set to resume saved state, the timeline still starts for this slide again.

You could add a variable to get this to work as you wish.

For example:

  • T/F variable: default value of False and named 'Daughter'
  • Set variable to adjust to True when the timeline starts on the daughter slide
  • Add a condition to the timeline start trigger on the Mother Slide:
    • Trigger for Next button to be hidden when the timeline starts if 'Daughter' is False

By doing this, if the learner has visited the daughter slide, then when the timeline starts on the Mother slide again, the Next button will not be hidden.

Let me know if that works better for you :)

Hi Leslie,

"So, when returning to the slide, even if set to resume saved state, the timeline still starts for this slide again."

No, the timeline does not play. The timeline is already completed and it doesn't restart because it is set to Resume to Save

I tried the variable suggestion and it didn't work because with Resume to save State the timeline doesn't start.
