They're not designed to jump from one scene to the next. At the end of one scene, you need to create a trigger to tell Storyline where you want the next button to go.
Why are they designed like that though, what would be the potential advantages with that? I find it frustrating and would much rather have them moving beween scenes once I have placed the scenes in the correct order.
Not all courses are linear. Many are designed with branching. For example, there might be a custom menu in scene 1 with buttons that allow the user to access other scenes/topics in any order, and then return to the menu. Or a course might provide different paths (e.g., for different roles) in different scenes, and the user only has to complete one. For those types of courses, it could be frustrating to have triggers that automatically jump from one scene to another just because they're in numerical order.
In short, there's no one solution that would work seamlessly in all situations. Personally, I think Articulate's choice was a good one. Everyone has to make an intentional choice about where the NEXT button will go at the end of each scene.
