Notes Text not Displaying

May 15, 2013

I am working on a storyline project that was imported via power point and I'm unable to get the Notes text to display in the preview or in the published file. The Player settings are all correct -- is there anywhere else this might need to be set up? I've checked that the slide settings are set to "default player" or if they are not, the "notes" field is still checked.

Please help! Thanks!

Welcome to E-Learning Heroes, Kasey!

First, please try to make sure that you're working with local project files:

  • Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names (this includes spaces and underscores).

Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article.

If you are working locally, or if moving the files to your local hard drive doesn't help, can you try this in a new file? Please create a new, blank Storyline course and try enabling the "Notes" tab. Does it display correctly in the new file?

If it doesn't display in the new file, there may be an issue with the installation. If it does display in the new file, there may be an issue with the original course file, or the text in the original file's notes.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks and welcome again!
