Numeric quiz question

Hi All, I have a quiz question that is giving me some grief.
The question can be answered "correctly" two ways... if one selects the default "keep original" radio button, the "submit" numeric entry field is populated with a default value which is, in fact, the correct answer for the question. However, there is another option to enter another value in a different numeric entry field. When that checkbox is selected, the "submit" numeric entry field is set initally set to zero, and then updated with the entered number when the field loses focus.
The second option is working, but if one leaves the default "keep original" option selected, pressing the Submit button return a result "you must complete the question". However, the numeric entry field is actually populated with the correct number.
What am I missing...?

...actually it turned out to be mind-numbingly simple. I just created a True/False question, with a numeric data entry field, and a trigger to select the "true" radio button if the when the "false" button is selected, and the correct value entered.
