Objects on base layer disappear

Hello Everyone,
My slide has text, shapes and a background image on the base layer. When I trigger another layer the text and shapes disappear leaving the background image.
I've tried:
1) Checking and unchecking the lock visibility icon on all layers
2) Removing animation on objects that disapear
3) Making all objects on base layer visible the entire length of the timeline
4) Making sure the base layer visibility option for each layer is set to on
To be clear, only some of the base layer objects disappear, not all of them.
Any ideas?

Hi John
if you right click > Format Background on the slide is the 'Hide Background Graphics' icon checked/unchecked? See if toggling that on/off makes a difference for you.
If that doesn't work, can you share the .story file or even just the slide.
Thank you....that didn't seem to do anything so I've included the file here.
Hi John
not sure I understand.
This is the blue layer and all of these items are hidden on base layer
If I 'unhide' those items - clicking the eye icon they all display when the layer appears - is this what you are after?
OMG!.....Yes! Thank you. I didn't know about that feature.
Wendy Farmer has saved the day. Here's the problem: I hadn't selected visibility under the timeline...only in layers window. Thanks!
Woo hoo John - glad that helped. All the best with your project :-)
