I am starting anew project, and have only one text box on the base layer. I wanted to create a new layer for design. When I open a new layer I get a square box with a circle top middle. I have no idea where this is coming from and have looked in the slide master. Has anyone seen this and could help me remove it? It is not selectable.
Thanks for the follow-up! I did a quick test on a blank project in Storyline 360 Update 49, and selecting a new layer for a quiz question brought me to the Blank layout.
If you add a new slide, does adding a new layer always default to the custom layout that's appearing for you?
Every time I started a new layer in a slide, I got a feedback layer. I was never opening a question slide, nor asking for feedback information. If I went in and changed the layer to blank, then any further layers on that slide would be correct. On the next slide I would ask for a layer and be back to square one.
I ended up copy and pasting each slide into a brand new story file and fortunately the glitch did not follow. I am working well now. I am curious as to the cause, but it is no longer a panic.
Thanks for those extra details! To clarify, whenever you add a layer to a regular slide, you will see it being applied from the Feedback Master, though it should default to a blank layout.
If you're not experiencing this, it could be a template or design theme that your project is pulling from, but if you'd like additional help sorting this out, connect with our team, and they'd be happy to take a look at your file!

Hi, Claire.
Thank you for sharing the screenshot.
It looks like your layer has a Feedback Master Layout Applied. Try the following steps:
Let me know if that works!
Thank you Maria, that was the issue. Why or how would that become the default new layer? This is a new presentation, on a new install.
I appreciate your knowledge!
