Odd results coming back from moodle report on SCORM interactions

Dec 07, 2017

Hi all,

We piloted a package this week and got some unexpected results in the excel interactions report. The package is set up to report as completed/incomplete and is on moodle. The oddities are:

  • In the 'score' column, there's one user who's responses were captured, but their score is showing as '0';
  • In the status column, as well as completed/incomplete, some users have the entry '50'
  • One user's responses for a quiz have been captured twice - ie, on the report, there are extra columns at the end for just this user, which restate the results for one of their questions.
  • One user is showing as complete, but no responses are captured for them.

We suspect our moodle server is underpowered, and have been having connection issues in the package due to this (we think), which we're looking to fix - it may perhaps be that the report oddities are due to connection issue? But I'm curious about how that would change the values in some of the cases to options that the SCORM isn't set up to produce... I've attached the file below, if of use.

Any suggestions/experience of these issues by anyone else?

Thanks all,

Al

Hi Alistair,

Sorry to hear that you've been experiencing difficulty with this reporting. I'm not familiar with Moodle reporting so hopefully someone in the community will be able to chime in with some insight to help you out.

Connectivity and intermittent issues are always the hardest to pinpoint.

Not sure if it would be beneficial for you to do some comparison testing with SCORM Cloud perhaps as well.

Hi Lesley, after some testing the issue was reduced to a negligible amount of errors, but now we've gone out to the first pilot users we're experiencing the issues again (typical!). I've opened a new forum post as this post didn't cover all the issues we're now experiencing - hope ok. I'd also like to take you up on privately submitting the file if ok. I'll do so now.

Thanks!
