Old S2 Files published not using HTML5... now need HTML5

Jan 03, 2017

I'm trying to figure out...Was there an enhancement? Last year I was publishing files as HTML only (not HTML5 because it was giving me problems with our IE browser). Now if I access my old published files and click on the HTML link it won't open I just get the spinning wheel. If I republish using HTML5 it works fine. The HTML5 is now working with our browser so that isn't an issue, but I want to know if I have to republish all my old files into HTML5 in order to be3 able to open or if there is something I should be looking for in the old HTML files.

Hi Terri

just saw your other post and you are on SL2 update 8.  There was an issue with browsers and viewing files locally:

October 4, 2016 (Update 11—Build 1609.3020)
Bug Fixes:

Added notification with instructions for new security feature in Flash Player 23 and later that prevents local playback of published output

Hey Terri!  Definitely get yourself on the latest update of Storyline 2, and also, have a look at this article; it will give you some information about improving local playback of your courses.

We always recommend viewing your courses in their intended environment as the best way to preview them before you're ready to go live!  Sometimes you'll encounter security restrictions from the computer, web browser, Flash Player, and network that'll cause various features of your content to fail when viewing your course right out of the published output folder.

Let us know how you make out!
