Opening a project from a published ZIP possible?

Sep 15, 2014

Hello all. I'm new to Storyline and I have a newby question that is puzzling me. The drives where my content was stored were compromised and I had not exported the course content as a template. All I have at this point is a ZIP file of the course from the day before.

What seems strange to me is that I can't seem to find a way to open that content in Storyline and resume working on it. When I select the 'Browse" option to open files no options appear in any of the folders. Am I missing something obvious, or can you really not access your own content unless you exported to a template?

Thanks in advance from a first-time poster!

Hi Lance and welcome to Heroes!

I'm sorry to hear about your compromised drive. When you refer to the zipped file, are you talking about the published output folders? You won't be able to take a published output and open within Storyline - and you'd need the .story file or a .storytemplate file to open within Storyline and continue to make changes, edits, etc. to your course. You would need to save the .story file prior to publishing or closing down Storyline, as Storyline does not have an auto save feature.
