Page transitions not working. Any ideas

Dec 20, 2018

Hi.  I am a relative newbie. sorry for this basic question

I applied a page transition to all pages in my project, but the transition is not working for all of my pages. I tried to apply the transition to these pages individually, i even toggled the transitions on and off, but it didnt resolve my issues.

Any ideas of what I can try.

Welcome, AB. Happy to help narrow down why this is happening! 🍏

  • Is this happening with all transition types or a particular one?
  • Here's a quick Peek recording on how to apply the same transition on all slides (I used the Split effect in my test). Let me know if the steps you took match mine. I'll try to replicate the behavior and see if we need to take action on a new bug!
  • Do you experience this behavior in preview, with the published output, or both?
    • If it's only happening with the published output, some HTML5 transitions are not supported in IE or Edge. More details here!

Looking forward to helping!

Hi, AB! You should be able to apply transitions to all slides and apply automatic page forwarding. I wouldn't imagine that your triggers would override those transitions.

I'd like to get a closer look at your project to see how the transition isn't working on a few slides. Would you mind sharing the file with me here? Be sure to let me know which slides are giving you trouble. I'll be standing by!

Hi all, stumbled upon this issue as I'm having it as well.  Using Chrome, and the "Review" feature in Articulate online (although I've also tried Preview and same result).  I have a different transition on most pages, and none are showing in the published module.  Were you able to resolve this issue?

Hi Doug,

Happy to help here!

Do the slide transitions not occur when Previewing the course and when you Publish the course? If that is the case, we are more than happy to help troubleshoot the file!

You can share files in this thread, or you’re always welcome to share them privately here. We'll let you know our findings and will delete it after having a closer look!

Hello... I have just spent a number of hours working on a corporate announcement.  As there is no audio I have used transitions... I spent a couple of hours just building in transitions to see which would work best with the content. While running it in preview mode it looks perfect ... when I publish it to CD  NONE of the transitions are working!!  Is there something that I need to know to make transitions work?

Jose Tansengco

Hi Sherry,

This article explains why transitions do not work when you publish your content to CD:

You can try using the other publishing options in Storyline 3 if you would like your transitions to display properly in the published output.

Hi I am experiencing a similar issue. The first slide in my PPT deck is set to advance after 5 seconds, with the succeeding slides set to advance after 12 seconds. When I preview the entire slide show in PPT, all slides transition as desired. The  Articulate slide Properties (using Studio 360) are set to Auto-Advance, however there doesn't see to be a way to bypass the default Articulate slide duration, in order to use the slide transition timing set within the PPT deck. Please help!

Hi Steve!

Thanks so much for reaching out! Happy to help. 🎉

If you attempt publishing this instead of previewing your course, are you experiencing the same behavior?

Would it be possible for you to share your files in this thread or privately in a support case? I'd like to take a closer look at your setup.

Looking forward to hearing from you!
