Paragraph Line Breaks in Course Description Not Showing Up in LMS

Oct 02, 2020

We have a client that is uploading our courses into their LMS and finding that our course descriptions are not formatted the same way they are in our Storyline project files. Specifically, descriptions are showing up as big chunks instead of the broken down, nicely formatted versions we're aiming for.

What we want the client to see:

Who it's for: Everyone.

What it is: A great new piece of software.

What you'll learn: How to use this great new piece of software.

What the client sees:

Who it's for: Everyone. What it is: A great new piece of software. What you'll learn: How to use this great new piece of software.

Our descriptions are usually much longer than this example, so it ends up looking pretty bad.

Has anyone else encountered issues like these before? Are line breaks for new paragraphs not allowed in some LMS instances?

Client's LMS: Cornerstone
Software Version: Storyline 3

Hi Michael,

I may have an idea, but my English is not very good, so I will do my best.

I think this problem may be due to the fact that Storyline or the LMS doesn't take into account "line breaks" (probably an HTML pre-formatting error).

There may be a trick to doing a line break by pressing the "ALT + ENTER" key (rather than just "ENTER")

You won't see the difference visually when you write this in the description, but it is quite possible that LMS will take into account the line break in this way.

It's a pure hypothesis, but I think it's worth a try.

Keep us informed, I hope it will work.
