Partial translation when importing the .XLF file

Jun 23, 2022

I have several Storyline courses that I want to translate to multiple languages. I exported the English text in .XLF format to a translation tool. I completed the translation on the tool and saved the translated file in .XLF format. Then, I imported the translated file back to Storyline. The Importing pop-up window does not complete the process because it generates an error. The error message is a generic message without any error code or details. When I close the error message, I can see part of the translated text was imported. More than half of my slides still have the English text.

Hi,
this happens, if the tags in text node is not correct

example from my last project

source (german)
<g id="block_0">{generic_1}<g id="span_2">Profiltiefe aller Reifen min. </g><g id="span_3">?</g><g id="span_4"> mm</g></g>

translation (french) - no problems with an online xliff-validator

error was:
<g id="block_0"> {generic_1}<g id="span_2">Profondeur des sculptures de tous les pneus </g><g id="span_3">?</g><g id="span_4"> mm</g>au maximum</g>

fix was:
<g id="block_0"> {generic_1}<g id="span_2">Profondeur des sculptures de tous les pneus </g><g id="span_3">?</g><g id="span_4"> mm maximum</g></g>

I was able to fix the problem myself - i opened a ticket after the project was finished for the xliff import problem (case 03201470) - and asked for documentation for the special requirements of storyline xliff - but it doesn't seem to exist.
When asking for a better error handling of such recurring errors, the answer was to make a feature request.

i would recommend to open a ticket and send the xliff file to articulate
