Pause button of Slide Master

Jul 08, 2014

Hello,

I have created a training presentation. In this presentation, I have two layers on the slide master. One layer has a pause button that is triggered when the timeline starts. (So the pause button is automatically on every slide but on top of any slide objects). When the pause button is clicked, it triggers the "play" layer. This layer pauses the timeline, the pause button changes to a play button and when clicked, it will start the slide back up again. This works great as a work around for many of our projects as we need a pause button without the scroll bar.

I am having an issue however. On some of the slides, there is the option to watch a short video. The video is on a layer triggered by a play button. If the user accesses the video layer by clicking the play button, when they close the video, the pause button (that is on the slide master layer triggered by the timeline begins) disappears.

Is there a way to make the slide master layer still appear after visiting an individual slide layer ? (This is very confusing to type so please let me know if you need any clarification).

Thanks,

Jessica

Hi Jessica,

I'm having a little trouble visualizing how you have this set up. However, if I were to guess, I'd say it may be one of two things:

  • You may want to check the layer properties and resume settings. If your timeline is ending on the layer, it may be a good idea to set the resume options to "Reset to initial state" - this will also help if your button is showing at the beginning of the timeline for that layer, but maybe not at the end.
  • You may also want to see if your other layers are hiding your "Pause" layer. In the properties, check the option for "Hide other slide layers" - if this is enabled, your video layer may be hiding your pausing layer.

If neither of these options does the trick, if may help to see the .story file.

Thanks!
