Storyline 360. Please help - I'm supposed to launch a course today and after months of testing, two new problems emerged just now. When publishing for review, the audio wouldn't play on the first slide unless I clicked replay. After reading a thread on the forum, I uploaded the most recent 360 update. Now, instead of my first slide displaying after publishing for preview, a slide with a giant play icon displays. I've attached a file showing what displays and what should display. Can somebody help?! I submitted a case, but need to resolve this ASAP.
Thanks so much for the quick reply Matthew! I am confused though - this is a new course - being authored now with the latest version of Storyline 360 (just did an update an hour ago). Shouldn't it automatically be compatible with Google Chrome 70 when I publish it?
So glad that you were able to reach out to our support team and I see that Michael is assisting you.
You are correct, and your course is compatible. The documentation that Matthew shared explains it nicely and the latter of that article explains the learner expectation:
In Chrome 70+, learners may see a play button when they launch or resume a course with audio on the first slide. They just need to click the play button to start the course, and audio will play as expected.
I have this same problem, but I don't have any audio in my project. Just a video that I want to play when use clicks button. There is only one slide in entire project. I want the one an only slide to appear and then when user click set, the video plays. Instead it opens with the big Play button. How can I remove big giant player button from first slide an start with only loop diagram slide.
To clarify - there is a button that triggers the video to play on the one and only slide in the player. You said that it needs "some kind of user interaction on a slide with media" which I do have - so I believe I am meeting that criteria. However, when the player still opens to a slide with a big play button on it - adds that page. Just to confirm, I have to put a page in front of it to avoid that - or should it work because I have an interaction on the slide?
It looks like Phil is providing the help you need here, but I wanted to share our documentation for you or anyone following along here.
Also, your email signature has been populating above as you replied via email. You can remove that if needed by clicking ‘Edit’ beneath your response. Here’s a quick Peek video if you need help.

If you can remove audio from the first slide then the play button will not appear.
Thank you Phil :)
Thank you Leslie :)

It is any media. Why not create a slide before that has an image of the video and your own button to advance.
Current browser restrictions mean media has to be user initiated.

Yes I tried that, but was able to create the right effect. So it is not possible?
Thanks,
You will always get a play button on mobile devices but for desktop you should be able to make it work

I added a page to the front and was able to create the effect I wanted. However, it would be nice if we did not have to do that.
Thank you.
There will always have to be some kind of user interaction on a slide with media until Google changes their mind (unlikely).
Would be nice if the Play button and overlay could be changed but it is a necessity

It needs to be a slide with no media on at all, so to answer the question you need another slide

Thanks. Clarification helped and workaround works fine.
