Play Next Button Navigation Issue

Jan 12, 2015

Hello, I'm having some difficulty with the Next player buttons on my Storyline 2 course. I have the next button set to hidden on the question slide, then I have it set to normal when timeline starts on feedback layer. All that works great, the problem is I have Next set to return to a "menu" type slide insted of just moving forward but its not going back to that slide. It's just going to the next one. All navigation indicates it should return to the "menu" slide as it's set and in the story view but upon preview and publishing it does not work properly.  Any help would be great.  Thanks!

Hi Peter,

The standard trigger for the next button in regards to a question slide are on the feedback layer - such as "hide this layer" and "jump to next slide" when the user clicks "continue". Is that what you modified to "jump to slide X.X" when the user clicks? Without seeing the file and how triggers are set up it's hard to determine exactly what may be happening.  Are you able to post a sample of the .story file here for us to take a look at?

Hi Lisa (or Peter - whoever you want to be!),

Thanks for sharing the project file. I took a look and see the behavior you shared. I took a look and found a similar bug reported to our QA team where they are investigating this issue. In the meantime, it seems that you can utilize one of two workarounds:

- One, use a custom next button on the feedback layers
- Two, utilize the feedback branching options within the "form view" of your question to determine where the user will go to next based on how they answer - you can set them both to slide .1.1

I'm going to include this thread in the report filed with our QA team so that I can share any additional updates here.
