Play/Pause Issue

Nov 02, 2015

Hello,

I am creating a custom course with a play and pause button option.  The Base Layer has images, closed captioning and audio.  When they click pause, it takes them to a Slide Layer "Pause" where there is a "Play" button.

I have triggers set to "Play Media ..." when the user clicks "Play" and Hide layer pause when user clicks play.

Unfortunately, it won't let me resume the base layer, only slide layers.  Which is causing the Closed Captioning and Images not to change when the user resumes the slide.  Any guidance, I'm in a predicament!

Hi, Jen -- Glad to have you in the community! :)

Would it be possible for you to share your file so that we are able to take a closer look at how things are behaving for you? If privacy is a concern, you can always share a basic or pared-down version that still illustrates the behavior you are seeing, and that way, the community would be able to check things out and weigh in with ideas and suggestions. For this option, simply click on the ADD ATTACHMENT button in the bottom left corner of the reply box, and browse for your file from there.

Or, if your files need to be reviewed confidentially, you are welcome to use this form, and you will be contacted via email as soon as your files have been tested.

if the audio is on the base layer you can simply add a 'Pause Timeline' trigger, and 'Resume Timeline' trigger to resume the timeline.  You shouldn't need to use a layer just to pause the timeline.  Based on your screenshot I would assume you are using Storyline 2.  Storyline 1 didn't have the Pause/Resume Timeline triggers.
