Player tabs not closing when clicked again

Mar 06, 2020

Prior to the January 28, 2020 (3.36) release of updates, player tabs were able to be closed by clicking the tab again. After the two most recent updates, it appears that is no longer the case - the only way to close a tab is to click elsewhere on the screen. The release notes don't indicate whether this was an intentional change, so appreciate any insight as to whether or not this is a bug that should be logged.

I have had several clients complain about this function, so have had to resort to reverting back to a version where it is working, which causes us to lose access to the new features that have been added. Thanks for any help!

Hi Stefanie,

Thank you for reaching out about what you are experiencing!

While I haven't seen anything recently about this, I created a similar setup and did find the same behavior. I found that if the Player Tabs are located on the Topbar, re-clicking on a Player Tab does not collapse them as intended. I will be bringing this to my team to look into further since this is not the expected behavior of the Player Tabs. I will include this thread in our report, so as soon as we have more details to share, we will be sure to provide an update!

In the meantime, another workaround that may help is to move the Player tabs to the Sidebar. Otherwise, reverting to Update 35 will resolve the issue as well.

Hi Stefanie,

As promised, I am reaching back out to provide an update!

We just released the newest version of Storyline 360, (Build 3.39.21985.0) this morning. This update fixes the issue where the player tabs would not close when re-clicking on them. You can find more details about this update here:

The next step is to update Storyline 360 by heading to your Articulate 360 desktop app and clicking "Update" next to Storyline 360.

As always, we are happy to answer any questions you have!
