Playing Storyline on a Mac

Nov 04, 2016

I have been building a distributable video course for golf tips and it is ready to be put on a thumb drive for distribution.  Today I finally got around to doing a test on a Mac (works great on a PC) and well to my surprise it doesn't work at all.  Also the fact that Flash no longer works on Chrome without changing Chrome settings is very disconcerting. I am not a Mac user so I did not think about the possibility of it not working.  Since this is going to given to non-technical people, is there a solution for playing a Story on a Mac?   It has to be so simple that any lay person can do it.  Much thanks in advance.

Hi there Jay! Welcome to Heroes!

When viewing the Storyline file on the Mac, were you viewing it locally? This article explains that it could be due to local security restrictions in your computer, Flash Player, and web browser. You might also want to take a look at these system requirements for Storyline 2, which provides more information on the requirements for viewing content on a Mac.

Thanks Alyssa.  I tried to use WineBottler (exe to dmg converter) but it failed every time I tried to build the file, not sure why that was.  Has anyone at Articulated looked at such a feature when publishing for CD?  In the end I actually resorted to just working with html5 like was suggested in the post -- nice thing is that it works on both PC and Macs.
