PPT file never gets imported into Storyline

Sep 28, 2012

Hi,

I just downloaded a trial version of Storyline. I wanted to import my already-finished PPT file (text and images) into Storyline. But Storyline NEVER successfully imported the file. It showed that it is importing, but stopped half way and frozen (screenshot attached). It happened exactly the same with my three PPT files (even the one with one slide).

This is what I did - I opened the Storyline. Then I click "Import PPT."

I read in the forum about this issue and it said several things that don't apply to my situation, except a couple of scenarios that I have NO clue how to check. I have PPT 2010 with 32-bit. I don't know about admin security the Help page was talking about.

Please help make my FIRST impression on Storyline be positive SOON.

Thank you!

Welcome to Heroes, Anch!

And sorry to hear you're having trouble getting your PowerPoints imported. It sounds like you may have already seen it, but this article discusses some common reasons and solutions for issues with the import process. And if that's not resolving the issue, we'd be happy to have you open a ticket so our support team can give you further assistance. Welcome again

Hi,

We're having the exact same problem on a couple of different machines. All Win7 Enterprise 64-bit. Office/PowerPoint is 32-bit.

I did read *that* article , and:

PowerPoint is not pswd protected

PowerPoint 2010 32-bit is installed

PowerPoint SP installed (14.0.6123.5001)

PowerPoint is running with same security permissions as Storyline

Office -> repair done. Same result.

We've tried importing:

PPT's previously edited with Presenter

PPT's untouched by Presenter

.ppt's

.pptx's

*all* freeze exactly halfways :-? Storyline has to be ended in Task Manager -> End task.

All are registered versions of Storyline (Update 1: 1208. 1316)

What to do?

Hi Thomas, welcome

Hmm, are you working from your local drive, or a network drive? A good practice would be to ensure that all the files are located on the same (local) drive as the file you're importing to. And what about file names? Any unusually long names or special characters? If that isn't the issue, this sounds like something we'd be interested in taking a closer look at. Would you mind opening a case with our support team so they can work with you to get this figured out? Thanks!
