Prevent Quiz Score from Passing to LMS

Nov 11, 2013

Hi, We are developing a course that allows learners to get course credit by passing a pre-test or alternately by completing course content and passing a post-test.

When a learner passes the course through one of these two paths, they are forwarded to a screen to "register their completion." This screen is really a one question quiz on which "completion is tracked" and this is the score that is passing to the LMS.

We do want this last quiz to serve as the trigger for receiving completion credit in the LMS, but would prefer that the score from that quiz not pass to the LMS as it may create some learner confusion (e.g., Learner scored 80% on the pre-test, but sees a score of 100% passing to the LMS from the one question quiz).

Is there a way to do this in Storyline? So very many thanks!

Good Afternoon Kristin, and welcome to Heroes!

Storyline allows you to track course completion by (a) number of slides viewed or (b) quiz result:

It sounds like you are currently tracking course completion based on quiz result (albeit a one-question quiz), and this tracking option will always pass a score to the LMS.

The only way to avoid passing a score to the LMS is to track course completion based on numbers of slides viewed.

Please let us know if you need anything else, and have a great day!

All, thank you so much for the fast reply! I greatly appreciate the ligtening quick response. We had elected not to use the tracking by slides completed option due to the two different passing paths (e.g., one path would require viewing only have a few slides, while the other requires viewing the entire course in order to earn completion).

I was hoping there might be a workaround like modifying the manifest file. Is there anything of this nature I might be able to try?

So very many thanks again! This site continues to be the very best!
