Preview is blank

Dec 29, 2015

I've just edit a storyline file, suddenly  the preview is blank, and buttons (Select, Replay, Edit Slide) are transparent,  can not click.

but I can successfully publish file. Then I try other files, the same, preview function doesn't  work, I've uninstall Storyline2, restart my computer, and  install  Storyline2 again, but still the same. Does anyone knows what should I do?

Thanks for reaching out here. This is something that seemed to bubble up over night with a recent release of Flash player and our Support engineers were hard at work on this issue. We've got some updated documentation here and a workaround and we'll keep folks posted on any additional information once we've got information to share.

Also, thanks Tim for going through to share in a few different threads and sorry you got flagged! If you post a lot very quickly our system things that you're spamming it. ;-)

Unfortunately the workaround says the bug in windows 7 is fixed and it still does not work for me.  I show Windows 7 service pac1.  Adobe Flash player 20 NPAPI  20.0.0.267 and Adobe Flash player 20 Active X 20.0.0270 are showing in the active programs.  With the documentation on the Articulate site now showing no workaround, I have been dead in the water for days.  I can only upload at great slow pain to your online test site sometimes and play the elearning from there to see what has changed.  Any other advice?

Glad to hear it Paul!

That's great news Michel :)

Glad you were able to find this and get back to good Margaret.

Hi Janice - are you viewing the published project in the intended environment? This is not an issue listed with the Flash Player issue as you can read about here. If you'd like us to take a look, you are welcome to share your .story file for us to take a look or you can share privately with our team here.

Glad you were able to get this working Susan and thanks for sharing the update and your solution as well.

Good news! Adobe and Microsoft have fixed the Flash Player bug that broke many applications just before the new year, including Adobe Captivate, Articulate Storyline, and Articulate Studio.

Here's how to install the latest Adobe/Microsoft update so you can preview your e-learning projects, edit videos, and launch CD-published courses again.

Sure thing Dorothy - I've copied it below:

A bug has been identified in Adobe Flash Player 20.0.0.267 that breaks features in many applications, including Adobe Captivate, Articulate Storyline, and Articulate Studio. For example, in Storyline and Studio:

  • You'll see a blank screen when you preview a project.
  • The preview area of the player properties window is blank.
  • The timeline preview feature doesn't work.
  • You can't preview videos, Flash movies, or web objects.
  • You can't edit videos.
  • You can't import Engage interactions into Storyline courses.
  • You can't view courses published for CD.

The good news is Adobe and Microsoft have fixed the issue in recent updates. Follow the steps below for your version of Windows to fix the problem.
