Preview is showing objects in different places they they are in design mode

Jun 11, 2019

Hello, I'm pretty new to Storyline and i noticed that objects like buttons and images sometime show differently in design mode and preview.

So far i have been able to move them around and set them more or less where i want them. Now I'm using characters and one of them moves in the center of the screen and gets in the way of other layers in preview. Any advice on how to fix this?
Thanks :)

Hey Karmela,

That's definitely odd! What Windows Display setting at you using? I'd recommend sticking with 100%.

If you're already using the recommended display setting and you're still seeing displaced characters, we'd want to take a closer look.

If that's okay with you, you can send your file to us privately here! We'll delete it when we're done troubleshooting.

Yes, the display is at 100%.
I was looking at different troubleshooters that suggested changing DPI to 96, but that didn't help since it is at 96 DPI already.
I think it could be because i was replacing character poses in states or something. I ended up deleting the one that acted weird and just inserting new one, so it works ok now.
But as I said originally, other objects like buttons and inserted images still appear a bit off in the preview.
Like in this slide, i had to move the inserted logo (upper right corner) a bit to the left so it would show up where I want it to in preview.

Maybe it's because I'm using demo version? I'm sorry if there's an obvious fix to this, I've only been using the program for 5 days.

Hi Karmela,

Thanks for sharing that additional information.

It should not be related to the trial version, so no worries there.

With your permission, I'd like to take a look at your .story project file to investigate what's happening. You can share it publicly here, or send it to me privately by uploading it here. I'll delete it when I'm done troubleshooting.
