Is there a way to start previewing a project from a couple of slides in rather than the whole scene from the beginning?
I have a scene that is over 50 slides now and it would be helpful to be able to preview them just from like slide 30-End of Scene like you can in Powerpoint. Is this possible? If not I'll submit a feature request.
I don't believe so. I think you might need to create a "Preview Scene" and drag groups of slides to it for review. Not want you are wanting but I think that is the option at hand.
If you allow your mouse to hover over the "Preview Slide" option for a couple of seconds, then this hidden menu will appear. The problem is that you cannot select it.
That is supposed to be there, but it doesn't work exactly like the requested feature. That will preview the current slide ONLY, so you cant navigate to the previous or next slide. What I'd like to see in future versions of AS2 is the ability to preview an entire scene from whatever current slide you're on, so that if you want to preview a scene you don't need to start from the beginning each time.
It is very handy to be able to preview a single slide only though, the shortcut for it is CTRL+F12. If you want to preview the whole scene then the shortcut is SHIFT+F12. The shortcut for previewing the whole course is simply F12.
The project that I'm developing has a 3 slide interaction where variables are set to show layers on subsequent slides, values get changed, and then the user moves on with the course. It would be very helpful to go to the first slide in that interaction and simply "view from current slide" so that I can test out the 3 slide segment without having to go from the beginning.
The work around is to put a button on the opening slide that jumps me to that section. No big deal, but since the TOC doesn't show up in the preview, the only other option is to go through the entire scene from the beginning.
I honestly got a little giddy when I saw that fly out menu, but then.... it didn't... :) I agree that it is handy to view a single slide only, but viewing from current slide forward also has its moments.
I never noticed the wording on this flyout. It should say "Preview the current slide" — which is what actually happens— rather than "Preview from the current slide".
And I agree, this is a feature I've longed for since the early days of SL1.
I submitted this request some time ago...fingers crossed it gets into a release sooner rather than later. I have started building my courses in scene chunks to get around this - not ideal but works for me - and then stitch them up at the end.
Does anyone know if this feature request is going to make an eventual update this year? It is so troublesome to have to sit through tons of slides and then exit all the way out, fix something, then have to sit through all of the slides again. It would be super beneficial to start "preview mode" on the slide that has been edited.
We don't release our product road map or dates in regards to future updates or new versions, so unfortunately I don't have any additional information to share with you here. The best thing to do is submit the feature request and keep an eye out on updates by following the Word of Mouth Blog or following Articulate on Twitter or Facebook.
While this isn't a feature in Storyline as of yet, I've documented the request for this capability with the right team. This discussion is tagged to its report, so if there's any forward movement, everyone here will get an email notification!
One approach you could try is to use the Select dropdown button in Preview to jump ahead to the slide(s) you need to see.
Great news! We just released another update for Storyline 360 and included a few important fixes and new features that you'll see in the release notes here.
The item you'll be interested in is how you can save time by previewing selected scenes or slides! Be sure to check out the article for all the details:

Hi Jackson
I submitted that feature request last week - the more the better!
Thanks, Wendy! It would be a nice feature.
Thank you for submitting your feature requests, and Wendy is right; the more demand, the better! :)

Is there a keyboard shortcut for it?
Or is just a menu that should not be appearing?

Hi Steve,
I know it's been an idea discussed before, so you may also want to look at sharing your thoughts in the form of a feature request.

I submitted a feature request, so hopefully it will make the cut.

was this feature ever implemented?
Thanks for checking in, Andrew!

Let me know if that could work in the meantime!
