Uh-oh Richard, we definitely wouldn't expect triggers to cause that! Is it possible that you’re working from somewhere other than your local C: drive? Working from a network drive or a USB drive can cause a few different problems, and you can read more about that here.
I've resolved my issue by deleting the scene I last built. It was at that point the bug appeared.
From now I will also back up my work on my local drive as when the bug occurred I was having drive issues.
On another note, can you tell me if my licence has expired as I am unable to load storyline updates and if possible I would like to update to Storyline 3.

I'm glad you got it sorted out! Creating backup files is a smart move, since file corruption can be unpredictable and happen even when you're following all of the recommended practices.

If you're already working locally, try importing the content into a new Storyline file.
