Problem with screen recordings

Everytime I record a scene my computer either freezes up or the conent never loads. All I see is the 100% saving status bar. This happened again yesterday, I recorded audio and my screen at 11am and it was still loading at 5pm. This video was only 5 minutes long. I do not have much time to develop this course, therefore I need to figure out how to fix the isssue. I have already contacted my IT department and they said everything was fine on my computer and I have one of the fastest computers provided to employees.
