Problem with Triggers in HTML5 (Storyline 2)
Apr 24, 2016
I'm having issues with triggers in HTML5 content and am looking for help.
My training plays without any issues in Flash, but when I use an HTML5 version, triggers don't consistently work. I've tested it in Chrome (Mac) and Safari (iPad), hosted both on my LMS and on SCORM Cloud.
If you look at my training, when you get to the game screen, where you have categories and points, once you select one and answer your question, you're put back to the game screen. In Flash, a checkmark or x shows up by the point value, indicating if you've gotten the question right or wrong. In HTML5, I'm not getting this to show up. It should also add to the score, which isn't happening in HTML5 either.
Here's the class on my LMS:

(If you want to make sure you get one question right to add to the score, the answer to the first ID question is flesh fly. The class is missing voiceovers and a couple of slides just have filler text, just so you know that those are currently working as intended.)
I've also attached the Storyline file.
I have Storyline 2 update 7 installed.

It seems like some people are having problems with layers and HTML5... perhaps that is the issue?
With the continuing rumors of Flash's impending death, it worries me to have Storyline output losing functionality in HTML5. Is there a guide to what features should not be used if you anticipate viewers using HTML5?
Hi Theodore!
We have a comparison chart that can be helpful so that you can understand some of the features supported in the various environments.
Be sure that you are viewing in a supported environment as detailed here.
The comparison chart shows that my layers and triggers should be working in HTML5. I'm using the latest version of Chrome and my iPad / iOS Safari is on the supported environment list.
I'll send in a support ticket and see if they can provide any assistance.
Sounds great Theodore. Feel free to share your case number here and I'd be happy to follow along.
Thanks, Leslie. The case number is 00783306.
Support provided a work-around for the problem, but the work-around doesn't work. Under HTML5, the layers still aren't showing up and the score isn't being updated.
Thanks Theodore. I see where you shared this information with Wilbert as well.
