Problems inserting new slide

Oct 02, 2014

I am trying to insert a new slide in a project. I want this to be the first slide that automatically goes to the next slide when the timeline ends. I can put the slide in. But when I try to add or edit a trigger and then preview the project the new slide does not show up. It also doesn't appear "in line" when I use "Story View" , but stays in the "new slide position".  Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

Thanks

Hi John

what version of SL are you using.  Do you want to share the first few slides of your project to take a look at?  When you say it stays in the new slide position...you can see it in the sidebar but it is the second slide?  If you want it to be the first slide, its easier to drag the current first slide into second position, than try and push your 'new slide' to first position.  Sorry if I am not understanding your question.

Hi John,

I'd agree with Wendy, if you're able to share a few slides that may help us in terms of checking your triggers and such.

A few other thoughts - are you previewing the entire project instead of just a scene or a slide? If you're using either of the latter previews, you may not be able to preview everything you've set up as you've isolated it to just how that scene/slide is behaving.

Have you looked at the slide triggers and the slide properties? You can set this behavior up as a trigger, but also allow the slide to automatically advance to the next slide within the slide properties.

You mentioned adding a new slide, and typically when that happens it'll appear as the next or last slide in your course. You'll either need to move it within the story view or the sidebar or set up the appropriate triggers for what slide should come before the new slide (if it's meant to be the first slide, moving it will be the best option here) and where it should go to next, or leave the default "jump to next slide" trigger.

Please let us know if we're misunderstanding, and if so please share some additional information about the set up.
